潘彬彬（陈浩民 饰）和秦芳（佘诗曼 饰）是艺术学院的同学，春暖两人成长于完全不同的家庭之中。两人相遇、春暖相知，并且最终双双坠入了情网中。两人不知道的是，他们彼此的父母曾是恋人。父母反对他们的爱情，只有秦芳的好友钱姗姗（薛佳凝 饰）支持他们。经历了重重考验后，潘彬彬和秦芳决定私奔，两人来到一个陌生的城市开始新的生活。然而，生活的艰辛不断冲击着他们，使他们身心疲惫。最终，潘彬彬受不了这种苦难，沦为了无业游民。潘彬彬并不知道的是，此时的秦芳已怀上了他们的孩子。
