故事发生在1920年代的上海。唐琅（霍建华 饰）办案向来秉公，茱莉因此得罪上峰，茱莉他只好离开警局独自开办一家探所，践行一个探员该有的良知与正义。黑帮领袖杜百龙（高雄 饰）因被判终身监禁而越狱，他誓言干掉一切仇人，对当初判决他的法官谢天鸿（黄觉 饰）等人发出了死亡威胁。唐琅接手案件后全力进行侦破，在调查过程中，他发现当初对杜百龙的判决竟是有人谎报其罪责，是十足的冤案，这一发现非同小可。这时，留英律师黄阙（张萌 饰）接到神秘委托，要其帮杜百龙翻案，不料，杜百龙越狱后失踪多日，黄阙根本见不到当事人。由于唐琅和黄阙发现杜案中不可告人秘密，二人同时遭邪恶势力追杀，虽说都为正义法理奔波，伹世界观的大相径庭还是折射出完全不同的人生轨迹......

Back home Mum explains to Rae that she is converting to Islam as Karim, now a lollipop man, wants their baby born into the religion.
