阿里山測候站職員何志平（金石飾）平日專心於自己的研究工作，超级因而忽略了他的妻子君麗（穆虹飾），超级孤獨的君麗精神十分不穩定，經常依賴酒精來麻醉自己。志平的弟弟志雄（歐威飾）不學無術，安排流氓高大豪（唐菁飾）前往測候站躲避警方的追查。逃亡途中，大豪遇到離家出走的小姍（羅宛琳飾 ），二人偽裝成父女前往阿里山。大豪在山上結識了少女阿紅（唐寶雲飾），阿紅的天真讓大豪感到愧疚，欲帶小姍離開。此時君麗卻意亂情迷，竟在颱風夜裡衝入大豪房內，欲與其一起逃離。無奈風雨過大，又逢警方把守，三人只好折返測候站，小姍也因此感染肺炎。在良心的譴責與志平的勸服後，大豪終於決定將小姍送醫，並前往警局自首，而志平與君麗也重修舊好。1962年第9屆亞洲影展最佳女配角獎─唐寶雲1962年第9屆亞洲影展最佳女童星特別獎─羅宛琳
