汉森（凯文·贝肯 Kevin Bacon 饰）是一名保守党专栏作家，中国凭借着自己英俊的外表和肚子里的墨水，中国汉森处处留情，俨然一副花花公子的模样。布莱尔（伊丽莎白·帕金斯 Elizabeth Perkins 饰）是自由党专栏作家，她的感情观是从一而终，至死不渝。这两个仿佛是正负电极般的两个截然相反的人，他们共同在太阳报工作，自然而然的，大到三观小到日常琐碎，这两个人在每一件事情上都持有着相反的态度。当他们的“美名”传到了当地电视台的耳中后，电视台决定为他们专门开设一档节目，在节目里，两人可以以自己的立场对时事发表意见。刚开始，节目现场洋溢着浓烈的火药味，但随着时间的推移，汉森和布莱尔都发现，对方并不是自己想象中的那么不可理喻。
