纽顿（史蒂夫·马丁饰）是个建筑师，疯狂更是个无可救药的浪漫主义者，疯狂当他建造完成理想中的房子后立刻向心爱的贝琪（达娜·德拉尼饰）求婚，没想到竟遭到佳人无情拒绝；向伤心买醉的纽顿对女服务生葛雯（歌蒂·韩饰）倾诉自己的苦恼，不料却因而发生一夜情，第二天清晨纽顿留下睡梦中的葛雯便悄然离去；然而两人的缘分并未就此结束，葛雯依照纽顿的叙述找到他的梦想之屋，并擅作主张搬了进去，并自称是纽顿的老eee。
