在2002年的春节联欢晚会上，春暖新人新作占了很大比重，春暖很多演员都是首次参加春节联欢晚会的演出。新人新作新风貌，在晚会的总体结构、主持串联形式、观众互动参与等多方面，2002年的春节联欢晚会与历届晚会相比发生了很大变化。除了中央电视台一号演播厅主会场以外，晚会还在深圳“世界之窗”设置了露天的分会场，采用了上海、沈阳和西安三地单编注入现场直播的方案，这是春节联欢晚会举办20年来，首次将演播室节目从室内扩展到露天。
