本片讲述了辛亥革命时期的上海，宅男址爱国武师霍振山、宅男址何大川携手烧毁大烟馆，引来斧头帮追杀，何大川为助义兄霍振山脱困被杀。二十年后的霍振山在上海开起武馆发扬中华武术，并寻找何大川的后人。面对黑市拳庄的挑战，霍振山击败对手却拒绝领取赏金，让赶来观战的石头心生敬意。而大弟子黄锦鹏却暗中勾结拳庄老板，害死师傅。石头和黄锦鹏在比武中发现彼此身世，竟是何大川失散多年的孩子，二人携手击败了拳市经理，铲平了黑市拳庄。
